Prof. David Aldridge
Co-founder & Business Director
Prof. David Aldridge is a renowned expert in environmental management and sustainability, currently serving as President of St Catharine's College, Dawson Professor, and Director of Studies in Biological Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge. His work focuses on developing innovative solutions for water resource management and environmental restoration, with a particular emphasis on sustainable practices for the water industry, government bodies, and NGOs.
Prof. Aldridge has managed significant research grants, totaling over £3.5 million, to support projects aimed at improving environmental management and sustainability, particularly in water pollution control and ecosystem restoration. His research blends scientific enquiry with practical applications, contributing to the development of new technologies for environmental remediation.
As the chair of the University’s Impact Accelerator Panel, Prof. Aldridge works to facilitate the translation of academic research into real-world benefits. He has received recognition for his contributions to the field, including the Entec Medal for sustainable water management and the World Bank’s Development Award for his work in improving water quality in China.
With his expertise in environmental science and collaborating with international partners, Prof. Aldridge is committed to advancing Union Power’s mission of integrating smart, sustainable solutions for China’s water and environmental challenges.
Mr. Raymond Tung
Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Raymond Tung has over 20 years of experience in financial investment management and has spent the past 13 years fostering cultural and economic exchanges between China and the UK. His initiatives have garnered recognition and support from the Scottish Government, with prominent figures in Scottish politics, including the First Minister and various Cabinet Secretaries, attending events to celebrate his work.
Raymond began his career as a fund manager at a leading investment fund service firm. From 2008 to 2017, he served as the Chief Representative for the Golf Project in China, funded and supported by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club (The R&A) and the Scottish Elmwood College. In this role, he played a pivotal part in promoting golf in China, focusing on the sport's values and principles.
Since becoming CEO of Union Power in 2018, Raymond has led the company’s involvement in several large-scale projects, including a £500 million watershed management project and a £639 million sewage treatment plant project. Both projects highlight the integration of innovative and sustainable technical solutions to address key environmental challenges.
Looking ahead, Raymond is committed to leading Union Power in seizing new development opportunities and continuously exploring smart and sustainable technologies—particularly the innovative application of Digital Twins in water environment and conservancy sectors—to address evolving global challenges.
